Communication Skills
Our communication skills training, and sessions can be designed for individuals as well as groups. We generally recommend no more than 16 people in a session for maximum interaction.
It is easy to assume that we know and use good communication practices. It can be a valuable improvement step to evaluate practices and take some time to refresh or upgrade skills.
Effective Meeting Management Making the best use of valuable meeting time is part science and part art! This small but powerful set of modules reviews key actions and tools to quickly improve efficiency.
Module 1 - Preparing for a Meeting (purpose, agenda structure, location) Module 2 - Conducting a Meeting (time management, using the agenda, discussion and decision making styles, note taking) Module 3 - Meeting Follow-up (action items, subsequent meetings, strategic meeting sequence)
Each module is 2 hours. The modules can be delivered separately, in two 3-hour sessions, or as a single half-day session. We recommend using an actual future meeting as a practice model.
Effective Interpersonal Communications We recommend that a good rule of thumb is to take a refresher course in verbal and non-verbal skills every four years. Information, communication practices and populations change more and more rapidly, making it a good idea to review your approach and consider the overall impact of individual and group skills.
Module 1 - Communication Styles (commonly noted styles/characteristics, gender and age distinctions, cultural variations and expectations) Module 2 - Verbal and Non-Verbal Cues Module 3 - Written Communications Module 4 - Getting Your Message Across (setting goals, testing for comprehension)
Each module is 3 hours.
This set of modules is delivered in four separate sessions in order to give participants time to practice new learning between meetings.
