Identify Potential CDAT Members

If you want to have a 3-person CDAT (you plus two others) we recommend you start with a list of 4 to 6 candidates. For 4 people, start with a list of 8 to 10. Start with a larger list; some people may not have the time, and others may decide they do not have the knowledge or interest. For time management reasons, we recommend having no more than 4 people on a CDAT.

Think about what combination of people would constitute a "dream team" for you and why. Don’t be afraid to set your sights high! Why is the "dream team" the best combination for you? For each person you consider, we recommend you take time to answer the questions below as completely as possible. The time you spend here will help make the rest of the preparation phase easier.

For the Single Driver Group
You will want to work with people who know you and also know something about reaching or holding the position or situation to which you aspire. Colleagues, mentors, role models, and senior people are all possibilities. You may want business generalists and/or technical specialists.

For the Mutual Action Circle
You will want to work with people whom you think would enjoy a collaborative exploration and would be able to make the commitment to ensure a positive group experience. As the initiator, think about what combination of people is appropriate. Is it better to have a team comprised of individuals from the same organization? This would allow for a strong, shared contextual understanding of issues. Would it be helpful to mix individuals from different organizations within the same industry in order to gain a broader perspective? Would it be effective to invite individuals from various organizations and industries to gain fresh ideas?
